We are now looking for a new team member to join ECDC (European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control) in Stockholm. We are looking for a Junior Experts in the area of Vaccine-preventable diseases. You will work as a Junior Scientific Expert and support the DVD Unit (Directly transmitted and Vaccine-preventable Diseases)– and within that Unit the Vaccine-preventable diseases section. The interim will report to the Head of Section VPD. The interim will be employed by Randstad and work with ECDC, this is a temporary assignment starting as soon as possible and until 31 December 2025 but there is a good chance for prolongation for the positions. ECDC has a hybrid working model with a minimum presence in the office of 2 days/week. It is a requirement that you are based in Sweden or can relocate here immediately. No remote work (from another country/city) is possible for this position.
Tasks include:
- Support data collection and data validation processes and production of ECDC outputs (online or reports) in relation to vaccine-preventable-diseases or vaccines;
- Support the organization of EU national immunisation technical advisory groups (NITAGs) collaboration activities (for more information on NITAGs see: EU/EEA National Immunisation Technical Advisory Groups (NITAG) collaboration (europa.eu).
- Support collection and systematization of information on relevant immunization policies, programme implementation and scientific evidence, as needed:
- Contribute to the development of technical guidance on vaccination, provide rapid scientific opinion and conduct rapid literature review and assessment
- Contribution to technical reports on vaccine-preventable diseases
- Provide periodic updates to the VPI team on relevant scientific literature on topics of interest
- Participation in VPI meetings and the daily ECDC round table (daily updates on certain topics).
Competences and experience:
In addition to the profile specification, these specific competences and experience are required for the current assignment:
- University degree within the field of medicine, public health, epidemiology, or biosciences and related fields
- Working Experience of at least 2 years in the field of vaccine-preventable diseases in the area of public health, epidemiology and/or surveillance
- Excellent communication skills (spoken and written)
- Ability to work well in a team and ability to work under tight deadlines
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (spoken and written)
- Very good MS office skills (intermediate level in Excel)
- Very good English language skills
- Preferably: Experience in analysis of regional, national or international surveillance data.
