R&D Engineer in Västerås
You will be part of ABB Mining, center of Excellence. We develop and deliver underground mine hoists to the entire world. Example of our delivery projects are new hoists where ore are transported up from 600 meters below the surface, then on a conveyor belts into a sorting plant. In plants such as these the process units are integrated with industrial IT 800xA control systems based on virtual servers. The markets are all over the world. At times we work with projects where various parts of the construction is manufactured in different countries e.g. deliveries to China and Australia.
Tasks: This position will give you the chance to be part of the Center of Excellence for Mining Hoists where you main mission will be to take responsible for the technical product management and support our Business Units within Mining. As we expect you to be the technical expert in hydraulics, your work tasks will also include composing work specifications as well as training others within the area.
You will provide global support, mostly from distance, but also on site. This makes travel a natural part of your work. You will be responsible for the technical parts as well as the functionalities, and work in close collaboration with the subcontractors to help them find the best possible production methodologies.
Requirements: To be suitable for this role, you have a university degree in Engineering and experience from working within the field of industrial hydraulics. We also expect you to have basic knowledge of PLC systems and previous involvement in development projects. Advantageous is knowledge of ABB´s model for development projects. It is meritorious if you have worked with electrical or mechanical engineering for industry plants. Since you will be working in a global, multicultural environment, it is important that you are fluent in Swedish and English, written and spoken alike.
On a personal level it is essential that you are systematic and analytical. Not to mention a team player who is open to new ideas. We expect you to have genuine interest in technology and high level of quality and customer focus. In addition, you are good at planning, driving, organizing and taking responsibility for your own work.
